We see teaching as an Art.

We value relationship as central to human experience.

We acknowledge that the experience of gender and cultural messages impact the development of who we are.

We encourage creative thinking, collaboration and problem-solving rather than  "getting it right."

We listen and make space for others to listen to different voices as if they were our own.

We invite balance
between the intellect and imagination, between physical expression and the full range of human emotions.

We are reflective practitioners - continually reflecting upon, researching and improving our own practice.

I was seventeen when I met Tori Rhoades, performing in the Fall Festival of Shakespeare under her direction. Tori was a critical voice in my own coming of age. She saw me clearly, heard me genuinely, and helped me envision a future that valued creative expression.

Even today, at the age of thirty-six, when I think of Tori and her work at my small rural high school, my heart wells up with appreciation. That I am still writing creatively, performing musically, and teaching children these same values in my work, is in part because of Tori’s profound presence. I hope my own daughter has these deep meaningful experiences as she grows up.
